Parents Engage event

The Leeds West Academy invited our Leeds Freedom Families group to participate in their first Parent Engage evening, providing the opportunity for parents to network, learn and engage with activities.

We were proud to attend alongside a number of other support organisations, which included the Barnardos 'Positive Identities' project who support LGBT+ & Questioning young people. Our Freedom Families group provides the perfect complementary service to sit alongside this (and the council Out to 18 & Transtastic groups) to provide space for parents to gain support, network or champion their LGBT+ children (children at any age, not just kids/teenagers).

Other amazing support groups included the Forward Leeds service, Battlescars, LSLCS TeenConnect and a number of NHS support services on general & mental health.

We really appreciated the opportunity to talk to parents about the support available through the Leeds Freedom Families, but also about the massive range of other services and groups in Leeds that they & their children can connect with.
