IDAHOBiT2019 - Thank you
With our group focus on safety & support for the LGBT+ community in Leeds it was an easy task to arrange the event to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia 2019.
The theme of the year was Justice & Safety allowing us to work with
our partners in Safer Leeds & British Transport Police, and mark the start of our closer working with the Crown Prosecution Service. We were also delighted to be joined by our friends from the Leeds Street Angels, who provide support for the vulnerable in the city long after our Friday evening engagement team have finished for the weekend.
We work with Safer Leeds in the City Centre Community Safety partnership, along with other enforcement & support groups in the city. Our support from British Transport Police has been extensive since we launched, promoting confidence in safety on the rail network and undertaking the Pride Friendly services over the summer months.
Support for challenging Hate Crime is a clear priority for us through working with the West Yorkshire Police Hate Crime Coordinators, with our own coordinator recently taking over the role in chairing the police LGBT+ Hate Crime scrutiny panel. We're extending our involvement in scrutiny to include participation in panels with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Thank you to everyone who supported our event on the 18th May in the Leeds Train Station, and to everyone who stopped off to chat with us on the day.
